Ltd (NECC), this event is under the patronage of President Xi Jinping. The CIIE will last for six days until 10th November 2019 with a multi-sector trade fair held in the eight pavilions of the NECC. Italy, which in this edition of CIIE is a Guest of Honor country along with France and other important PRC business partners, will be represented by an official delegation led by Luigi Di Maio, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The CIIE is a major event in the Chinese exhibition calendar. The mission of this event to strengthen China’s role as a key driving force for global trade, while at the same time aiming to raise the level of quality, technology and innovation of imports to China. In line with these objectives, the CIIE is exclusively reserved for foreign companies and products, while products made in China will not be presented or promoted in any way.
This second edition of the CIIE will showcase over 160 exhibitors from Italy, including both individual exhibitors and those supported by the Fondazione Italia Cina, AICE, Confindustria Federorafi e della Camera di Commercio italiana in Cina. Together with these partners, a catalog of the Italian presence at CIIE was created. This catalog also includes a summary of the other activities organized by the ICE-Agency at this important event. The efforts and activities at CIIE are under the direction of the Ministry of Economic Development and along the official theme of ‘Italian Technology and Design along the New Silk Road’.
The Italy national pavilion set up in Hall 5.2 will be the center and point of reference of the entire CIIE initiative. The Pavilion, built based on an original project design selected through a competition, uses iconic elements of the Italian urban landscape in a setting that reflects the tireless commitment to the pursuit of excellence. Inspired by a cultural tradition that has not lost its charm over the centuries, the project design transforms the 256 square meters Pavilion into an experiential journey through a ‘miniature Italy’ full of exciting content and surprises.
The experience of visiting the Pavilion will be further enriched by the products exhibited at the Pavilion, which have been thoughtfully curated by the Association for Industrial Design and the National Chamber of Italian Fashion. The daily event program will also include offerings of Italian food and beverages to visitors an entertaining experience aimed at promoting an authentic aspect of the Italian lifestyle.
As part of the communication activities, the Italy Pavilion will be made even more interesting and interactive through the use of a dedicated ‘App’ that will offer visitors a virtual tour of four cities represented by their most important monuments through symbolic landmarks and representation of Italian culture and history. The interactive videos have been created through the use of innovative 360-degree filming techniques and converted to a virtual environment that accurately and realistically reproduces landmarks and places.
In the five days that will follow the inauguration, there will also be a series of thematic in-depth seminars on topics that will cover sustainability in the food chain, technological innovation, integrated urban planning in the ‘Smart City’ model and Italian lifestyle, which will include design and fashion, personal care, and physical and spiritual well-being. The discussions in these seminars will be led by university professors, leaders of the business world and both Italian and Chinese professionals, with the aim of deepening understanding and focusing on the opportunities for collaboration offered in the various fields and in the industry sectors mentioned above.
Finally, for the benefit of the Italian companies present, an in-depth discussion will be organized on the support structure, opportunities and tools made available by the Italian ecosystem in foreign markets. This event is organized in collaboration with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti at a hotel in Shanghai at the end of the first day of the fair.
