On November 5, 2021, the 4th China International Import Expo was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). As the world’s first import-themed national exhibition, the CIIE this year is mainly composed of three parts: National Exhibition, Enterprise Business Exhibition and Hongqiao International Economic Forum, attracting nearly 3,000 exhibitors from more than 120 countries and regions. With the strong support of the Italian Trade Agency, 11 Italian medical enterprises has been presented, bringing new products, technologies and services, and shall stay with experts from domestic and foreign industries and business representatives to discuss the new direction of international cooperation.
The need for medical health services is one of the most basic human needs. In recent years, with the development of China’s national economy and improved living standard, people’s health awareness has been increasing. Thanks to the increase in the demand of medical consumables and devices and to the policies for the healthcare system, the market for China’s healthcare industry has further expanded. Data show that China’s big health market has reached RMB 13 trillion, and saw rapid development in the past eight years. The compound annual growth rate of market size is up to 13%, leaping to the second largest market in the world.
A total of nearly 350 enterprises from 33 countries and regions exhibitors attended medical exhibition area of CIIE this year, including more than 70 of the world’s top 500 leading. It can be observed that the medical exhibition area of CIIE this year features with the theme of “professional, new and bright”. New products and new technologies exhibited the first time are far more than those in the previous three sessions. Italy has always enjoyed a global reputation for its superb medical care and is consistently ranked among the top 10 countries in the world according to the distribution of the Health Access and Quality Index (HAQ) by the authoritative international academic journal The Lancet. The products and technologies presented by the 11 Italian medical enterprises at the exhibition provided exclusive application solutions for the Chinese market and users based on their rich experience and advantages accumulated in the professional field.

[GEOPHYT SRL]: A pharmaceutical company focused on providing new technologies for better healthcare solutions and strongly oriented towards solution to prevent and treat adverse events in Radiotherapy and Oncology hospital.
[LAERBIUM PHARMA SRL]: Engaged in studies and research on cellular nutrition and herbal medicine, the company designs and sells a range of dietary supplements and functional cosmetics to fully meet the needs of the human physiological balance and health.
[LAMBDA SPA]: LAMBDA concentrates on the design, development and manufacture of laser equipment for specific dental, veterinary and medical use. Their Doctor Smile brand focuses on providing top quality devices for dentist.
[LED SPA]: With a laboratory of 3,500 square meters LED specializes in the design and production of medical electrosurgical equipment. LED has reached a broad consensus in the field using innovative processing methods, but always linked to the Italian tradition.

Data from Ministry of Commerce show that by the end of 2020, China has been the world’s second largest import market for 12 consecutive years and a major export destination for many countries and regions. Augusto Di Giacinto, Trade Commissioner of ITA (Italian Trade Agency) Shanghai Office says that: China had always been an important market for Italy’s multi-sectoral trade. The Italian Trade Agency was also keeping a high level of interest in the direction of China’s economic policy.
